pathetic, inscrutable arguments

Just cruising through. After a brief glance around it becomes clear to me that this is either a pathetic defense of atheism, for which any self-respecting nonbeliever should be embarassed, or it is a clever "mock site" like Landover Baptist Church and is run by a bunch of clever Christians to discredit the atheists. I lean towards the latter (so don't think I'm taken in). The idea that nudity in Medievel Catholic art should discredit Christianity and the pathetic, inscrutable arguments in the compact contradictions are dead giveaways.

you know that Jesus esixts

Dave, If you are an ex-christian then you know that Jesus esixts and that he loves you. Satan does not love you or care anything for or of you. I beg you to change your mind and reevaluate your decision to step away from the Lord and talk and pray to Him about your questions. If you maintain this thought process you will regret your decision after death. If you need answers my pastor is very knowledgeable and has never told me to "just have faith". Please, send my your questions and I will get you answers. Jesus Loves You. Josh Duncan joshduncan80 at yahoo dot com

Why would anyone want to be an atheist?

I read some of the things that your website said about christians and I know that there are christians that are not smart or make the rest of us look bad and people who think they are christians but are really not. Just because someone says they are a christian and they always go to church does not mean they are a christian. I am a guy and if I joined the girl scouts would that make me a girl? I also know that there are good people who are atheists and I am not trying to be mean to you. I just wonder why you would risk everything like that. Niether can be proven and there are good arguments for both but in the end I would rather go for maybe getting something over definitely at best getting nothing. I do not think I am better than you or that I am going to heaven because I am better than you. I know I am nowhere close to perfect. I dont care if hitler was atheist that would not mean all of you were bad anyways. I am not judging you either I am just saying what I believe that is, believ...

Brainwashing and Fraud

sent in by Deist Here is a link that shows brainwashing in action. It shows a guy that went to hell and the sky dictator said "Why didn't you give them tracts" What pure BS. As George Carlin says "fleecing the flock, fraud in action" http://www.chick.com/reading/tracts/0945/0945_01.asp I think religion is naive to think it has the know-it-alls about the forces of nature. It is nothing but a cop out for the unexplainable. Basically saying I don't know what causes it, so we'll tell the masses it is god that did it. Humans have the strange ability to be rational and irrational at the same time. We are the only animals that are like that. Another chunk of evidence to prove that the Christian religion is B.S. is the goofy view it has on sexuality. For some strange reason LUST is a sin but without lust how can you procreate? Lust is that urge to mate, how is that a sin? Now in civilized societies, it is bad to force someone into sex that I understand but with ...

Thank you for a great site

Webmaster, Thank you for a great site. I'm not and never was a christian or a believer, although I have always been interested in the how's and why's behind people's beliefs. I think supporting people who are losing their religion is a good thing; though some christians come on here not understanding what this site is about, it seems in their so called unconditional love they're not able to unconditionally support people who no longer think the same way. Although I find some Ex-Christians comments here a bit harsh towards christians, I can see where they are coming from. I find it interesting that Christians come on this site anonymously questioning the validity of this site, yet it seems perfectly fine to have a 'christianity rocks' site...to support it is fine,to question it seems to be wrong or unneeded and even objectionable or dare I say it, sinful. Issues I've struggled with regarding religion in general is this: -god is an all knowing, all seeing ...

My heart hurts for people like you

Hi There. I am so very worried about you . There is not much I can say to you that I am sure you have not heard. If you have heard Billy Graham you have heard one of the most amazing people in this world. I just hope your aware of how many people your influencing through this web site. To send yourself to hell is one thing but to be held accountable for so many other souls you should be terrified. Maybe your laughing but you won' t be when Jesus says I never knew you away from me. My heart hurts for people like you I will pray for you even though you don' t want it and you better pray that you do come back with your tail between your legs because you don't want to experience hell.. You had it right the first time please carefully weigh out your consequences for being agnostic verses christian. Yours in christ..... Tabitha Sopko

A Proposal to Christians

sent in by Tigg13 It has occurred to me, after reading several of the comments made by Christians on this website, that there is an issue that should concern you all more than the existence of ex-Christians. Now, as you all know, there is one and only one true God and one and only one true path to salvation, with all the other paths leading to damnation. But, there are hundreds of different denominations of Christianity all calling themselves the one true church. Obviously there must be a great many of these churches that are not doing the Lord's work. But, if they're not doing the Lord's work, then who's work are they doing? Why, Satan's of course. Think about it. What would please the prince of deception more than to use God's own book to lead innocent people into the pit of eternal suffering? To twist and confuse scripture so as to trick people into choosing a false imitation of Christ. Just imagine how surprised these poor souls will be whe...

Written by Men?

I was wishing to post a comment but could not find a topic to which it specifically belongs - it is relavent to almost all of the topics on your site. I'm not sure if this is the best way to address the question/comment to you and if it's not, please tell me the best way to do it from now on. Anyhow, to the point: I was reading through many of the posts on various topics and I noted that several times, you (among many others - you are simply the easiest to directly reach) stated that the Bible was written by men. Specifically I saw this comment in a long transaction between you and "biblicalwitness" concerning the "Plea to TRUE Chritians". Anyways, what i would like to know is: What is your basis for stating that the bible was written by men? What proof can you offer that the Bible was written only by men? What is your proof that the Bible was NOT inspired by God and written through men? And why do you base your beliefs of the origins of the Bible on thi...

I'm a Christian

Hi, I've come to this site off and on for the last few months to see what's being talked about and I really enjoy it. You see, I'm a Christian (as in, one that worships God and believes that Jesus is the only way to Heaven, although there is obviously more to it than that). I can appreciate the reasons why so many people leave the Christian faith. Some of my friends & family have done so and have similar arguments that feature alot on this site, but I have investigated a few of them and have found inconclusive evidence either way. To be honest, this post has no real point, I just wanted to let you know that I respect your decision to not worship God and that that doesn't make me a better person than you. Warm regards, Joel B

You people are pathetic

You people are pathetic. You use a lot of big words for having the brains of a small rodent (and I am talking about anyone who isn't a christian). What is it like to go through life not knowing where your going, or whats going to happen. The even sadder thing is, is that the bible says that you would say stupid things like on this web site. I'm not going to explain anything to you, people didn't like Jesus to much, so you know they won't like christians. People who are saying stuff like the things on this blog have only accomplished to further my pity for you. I am so sorry for you, because I am full aware of whats going to happen to you. I'm so, so sorry....

I'm a christian

Hi, Well, I don't like sneeking in on people so I'll just say it straight away: I'm a christian. I havn't looked much on your site (yet), but a few things I want to say: First of all: I found this site when I was looking for free-to-watch christian movies and found you got one of Hovind's debates online here :) The second thing was that I read your "challenge to all christians visiting this place" in which you give three points which we should think about if we want to stay a christian. I was positivly surpriced you were so objective! Those points did not contain any sh!t like "you go door-to-door all the time while you shouldn't bother anyone", or "you only think of yourselfs as better people because..." or "many of you are so dishonest" or... (I suppose I could go on for a while her ;)) Anyway, I had trouble with these things too, but I no longer see them as a problem. I don't know exaclty what you did when you thoug...

If there is a God

I had the experience of growing up in a family where there was more than one brand of religion - i.e. Baptist and Anglican. Later on I attended the Mormon Church and then later a pentecostal church. Some would say that this would lead to confusion - but I tend to think that it has clarified the fact that there are so many inconsistencies among the various denominations, that it is better to get away from everything just to think for ones' self. If there is a God, I would like to know for myself - not take someone else's word. If there isn't a God - then I also want to know for myself - not take someone else's word. I have never really been religious, and I have never really been a great reader of the Bible either. Perhaps most people who have become atheists have become so because of their own convictions, whereas I have always been sceptical and never really believed strongly in any theory or belief system. I was given the nickname of "doubting Thomas" ...

A Question of Statistics?

I am an ex-christian and I have been on a Christian forum. One of the Christians on this forum wrote the following about why Christianity must be true: Member Member # 3741 posted 02-21-2006 12:25 AM -------------------------------------------------------------------------------- Unique among all books ever written, the Bible accurately foretells specific events-in detail-many years, sometimes centuries, before they occur. Approximately 2500 prophecies appear in the pages of the Bible, about 2000 of which already have been fulfilled to the letter—no errors. (The remaining 500 or so reach into the future and may be seen unfolding as days go by.) Since the probability for any one of these prophecies having been fulfilled by chance averages less than one in ten (figured very conservatively) and since the prophecies are for the most part independent of one another, the odds for all these prophecies having been fulfilled by chance without error is less than one in 102000 (that is 1 with 200...

A weekend intensive for letting go of religious indoctrination and reclaiming your life.

Led by Marlene Winell, Ph.D. The effects of authoritarian religious training can last a long time and run deep, seriously impacting your ability to enjoy life. The process of leaving one's faith often creates intense feelings of confusion, grief, anxiety, and anger. Full recovery can be difficult if the issues are not clear and you feel alone in the struggle. This workshop is designed to support you in this process of healing and growth. The weekend is a powerful group experience of sharing personal history, examining key issues, and exploring new liberating concepts. In addition to discussion, we will use experiential methods including art, guided visualization, movement, and role-play. There will also be time for shared meals, relaxation, and fun. Because we are staying together, we will have the chance to get acquainted and begin a lasting support system beyond the weekend. As a special bonus, we will have massage and acupuncture treatments available, and guests are welcome to ...

Say hello to yet another EX-christian

I was not abused by Catholic Priests, or by anyone in any way. Nothing catastrophic made me "angry with God". There was no single event that lead me to atheism; rather, it was a very gradual journey of examining the evidence, (or lack thereof) all the available facts, falsehoods & myths, actual cross-referencing history, from sources both within and hostile to christianity. Not to mention those that are purported to be "evidence" from an alleged "Jesus" contemporaries - most of which turn out to be hearsay, early christian forgeries, or conglomerations of mistranslations and misinterpretations. It was the use of logic, science and reason that lead me to atheism, as it has many here. After all, this is the default position. I am not the one making the claim that there is a god, afterlife, ghosts or demons or anything supernatural. It is religionists that make the claim(s). The burden of proof is on them. Carl Sagan used to say, "Extraordinary claim...
