Calling UK exChristians

I have been reading this site for sometime, and really value the fact there are others out there who are in the same boat as me. I am now convinced, after years of doubt, that Christianity is not true. I now face the huge and scary task of unpicking my life so I can be honest with everyone whilst still maintaining treasured family relationships.

I would really like to pen pal some people via email about all of this- any takers? Particularly interested in being in contact with doubting Christians or convinced exChristians from the UK. My background is Free Evangelical, with a Calvinist slant.

However anyone who wants to write to me is very welcome from anywhere in the world! I hope this doesn't contravene the ethos of the website, but would be very grateful if the webmaster would post this.

Alternatively could there be a UK forum? I don?t have a clue with this web stuff. I would just like to be in touch with people who know the scene over here and are recovering from it. We are all together internationally but would be a relief to know I am not the only one from the UK

Best regards,

Andrew

I think local chapters of exchristians supporting each other are a good idea. Perhaps a whole new denomination!

This is my first time to this site. I know what you mean Andrew. I can relate to what you are saying and I still struggle with inground beliefs. I am on medication for panic attacks that I first experience at around 8 years of age. I didn't know what they were then but 6 years ago was diagnosed and I am on the road to recovery. I can look at the teachings froma different perspective now. I, too, have yet to tell my Mother and Brother that I don't believe anymore. Don't want to upset them. Mum will think she failed as a Mother and will go to 'Hell'. My name is Debbie and I am from Brisbane, Queensland, Australia and I was raised a Methodist who are now Uniting Church.

Hi Andrew,
I'm glad you have come to that realization in your life. I'm not in the UK but the world is much smaller these days.
I had been an Evangelical Lutheran with an idiotic slant. I'm now Jewish and not all that either. More on the humanist side of things. I believe is some kind of power greater than me but it's in me if that makes any sense. I am constantly becoming that greater power and it's a choice I make. It's all in me. I'm not sure there is anything after death because it would serve no purpose. Now if someone comes from the dead and tells me otherwise I may change my mind.

I hope you don't feel alone.

Hi Andrew,

Welcome to the site, you're not the only UK contributor since I'm here too (don't let my nick suggest otherwise although that is half true too). The UK is a big place, though, whereabouts are you?

I deconverted from charismatic, fundamentalist, born-again christianity when I was 18, now I'm just hanging on, with white knuckles, to the remnants of being 37 so I guess you could say I'm pretty "convinced". You can check out my profile in the forums if you like.

I haven't been a member of this site for very long myself, but everyone I've encountered have been very friendly (apart from the christians, strangely) so I'm sure you'll make friends.

Take care,

SwissMiss
