Calling all Ex-christians!

Calling all Ex-christians! I thought this might be a fun thing to share with all of you. I would like your input. I was going to do this myself, but I thought it would be rather fun to include all of you, too. You all are also very good at expressing yourselves (I'm ok at it), and have made many convincing arguments that cannot be refuted using the bible. Here we go!

I travel a lot for my job, and in my travels I have met a few believers. Some fundies, some not. There is one in particular who works for a company that we buy from. I was talking to him about the errors and such in the bible. He was surprised at my de-conversion, and has (arrogantly)offered to help clear up any "misconceptions" I may have. He said he could "blow any of them out of the water". I believe that this man has nowhere near the bible knowledge and understanding that all of us posess.

Let's give this guy a wake-up call in the name of truth.

I am asking any of you to as briefly as possible give either your best argument for your rejection of christianity, or a few contradictions, errors, or impossibilities in the bible that are unexplainable. Feel free to mix it up a bit, just make sure you give it your best shot, and help me convince this guy of the ridiculousness of christianity.

I am counting on you, my friends. Lets have some fun!

Timotheus

A desire to be more Loving, moraly self respecting, understanding, and seeking of truth is what led me away from christianity.

I always figured that God would not be afraid of truth, so there would be no harm seeking it out.

Strangley enough, it was my strong desire to be more like Jesus , and wanting to raise my family with not just christian beliefs, but true lovers and seekers of Truth, that led me to find out that the gospel is rubbish. (this is still an interesting thing for me at times to think on).
The gospel has Unattainable demands. The gospel shows a God who is really ignorant to the fact that lots of people are ignorant to many things. It shows a God that demands us be better than God, in love, compassion, justice and wisdom.

Here is a verse if ya want.
Yahweh says, "For in the day that I brought your ancestors out of Egypt, I did not speak to them or command them concerning burnt offerings and sacrifices" (Jer. 7:22). Makes the books of Moses void. of course as usuall ...the NIV has different rendering that alters the meaning.

It seems as though law and gospel are being confused. The LAW gives us God's demands which ARE unattainable, as we are all sinful. However, the GOSPEL gives us the promise of salvation through Christ, which comes to us FREELY. We are unable on our own to fullfill God's demands. That is why Jesus died on the cross for us. He did the work for us. Human nature likes to think we can do something to achieve forgiveness and heaven. We can't nor do we have to- Christ did it for us. I am sad to see some so proud to no longer be christians. I pray that the Holy Spirit works in your hearts.

Anonymous, it isn't we who are confused about Christian salvation, it is Christians.
